Ingalls Peak Climb
Located just west of Mt. Stuart, Ingalls Peak sits above lovely Ingalls Lake, and offers a relatively straightforward climb on strange, yet sound rock. We prefer to guide the East Ridge and descend the popular South Ridge as we find the climbing on the East Ridge to be more diverse and interesting. Most of this 5-pitch rock climb is rated at low 5th class, with a few short 5.7 moves to keep things interesting. The descent requires multiple rappels. Overall the climb is a really nice one-day outing with several hours of hiking on either end of a fun climb. In the early season we climb steep snow to reach the ridge. This climb is excellent training for anyone considering a longer alpine rock route such as the upper North Ridge of Mt. Stuart as it offers opportunities for short-roping and short-pitching, multi-pitch climbing, and rappelling. We are also happy to guide the South Ridge, which is the more often climbed of the two routes described here. Ingalls Peak can be climbed in one full day, or can be added to a climb of Mt. Stuart.
